Some consider Google Photos to be the best product the company has ever put out. With the constant improvement and super smart features, it wouldn’t be hard to make the argument. Yesterday, Google Photos product lead, David Lieb, was on Twitter answering questions and revealing upcoming features. First up is some love for pet owners. You can currently automatically share photos of specific people with a partner, but pets are not an option (despite being possible in live albums). You will soon be able to have photos of your pets automatically shared with other people as well. A big feature of Google Photos is the ability to have people in photos automatically tagged. This takes a lot of the work out of keeping photos organized, but it doesn’t always work. Currently, you can remove incorrect tags, but you can’t add your own. Soon, you’ll be able to manually tag faces in photos Next up is a couple of web features coming to Google Photos for Android. Photos are automatically organized by when they were taken, not when you upload them. You’ll finally be able to use the web’s search parameter for recently uploaded photos on Android. Speaking of upload dates, you’ll also be able to edit timestamps on Android (which has been possible on the web for years). Lastly, you’ll soon be able to delete photos while browsing albums and favorite photos in shared albums (currently can only “Like”). Also, the team is aware of an annoying issue with Samsung screenshots being backed up with regular photos. There was no exact time frame given for all of these features, but we’ll keep an eye out.
